For one weekend in September, dozens of filmmaking teams from all over the world will be working against the clock to produce, write, edit, and export a short film. And yeah, you've heard of that "make a movie in a weekend" thing before and you're kind of tired of the lameness of those movies. So were we. That's why we set up BLOODSHOTS as a make a *horror* movie in a weekend competition. Because when you're fighting to stay awake so you can finish your movie, we think it helps to have an evil werewolf midget with an axe standing by to keep you on your toes.
I'm not at liberty to tell you what all the horror subgenres or what the weapon/prop will be for this year's event, but I can tell you that the Best Of and Awards screening this year will be an official screening at Fantastic Fest. And I can tell you that this year's prizes include $2,000 cash and an AMD-powered suped-up editing system so that your next project edits even faster.
The shooting weekend will be September 7th - 9th, with a meet up party on the evening of the 7th where we'll be assigning props and subgenres and lines of dialogue, and then a wrap party on the 9th when filmmakers will be turning in complete projects and having a well-earned drink before taking a nice, long nap.
Initial screenings of all of the films will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in the weeks leading up to Fantastic Fest, and audience ballots from those screenings will be used to determine the Best Of films, which will screen during Fantastic Fest 2007. At the end of the Awards Ceremony we'll give away prizes to the top three filmmaking teams and forcing the winners at chainsaw-point to make an acceptance speech.
Registration for Bloodshots 2008 begins on August 1, so check back to this website then to be a part of the action!
